Softball Leagues For Adults – The Planet Of Baseball

When I was growing up, it always seemed as though there were dozens of softball leagues for adults. Now that I am an adult, I do not see as many. It could be the population of the town that I live in, or it could be that the leagues are just not as popular as they once were. Either way, they are a great way to meet people in your community. Here are the reasons as to why you should start a softball league for adults in your area.

I recently moved back (temporarily) to my home town. I have zero friends since I never kept in touch with anyone whenever I moved. If this is something you are also going through, then an adult softball league is the perfect way to meet new people and reunite with old friends.

Let’s face it, you do not need to be good at softball to join a softball league. The fun of the adult softball league is that you are just getting away from the kids for an evening. It is adult fun time. Plus, they are usually co-ed.

This is something we have all been through at least once in our life. There is always that one relationship we have that just ends and leaves us dazed and confused. An adult softball league will keep your mind focused on something other than the breakup.

Plus, it may help you start to date again. If itis co-ed, then most likely there is at least one member that is single and ready to date. This adult softball league is looking better and better, isn’t it?

I once belonged to an adult rugby team. The main reason why some people joined was going out afterwards for a drink with your team mates. Playing fields are always near a pub so going out for a pint or two is mandatory.

It helps you talk with your team mates after practice and in a social setting. Remember people are usually more relaxed off the field, so the pitcher may actually be nice and relaxed, unlike their uptight persona on the field.

I know that softball is not the most strenuous of sports, but you are not at home sitting on the couch watching a ball game. You are up and about moving around while playing softball (unless you are up waiting in the dugout waiting to hit).

Plus, during practices you have to warm up and that usually involves a jog around the diamond, throwing the softball between team mates and just moving in general. Playing softball also beats a night at the gym any day.No running on a treadmill or lifting weights. Just running bases and throwing softballs.

How To Start An Adult Softball League

Starting one can be quite easy if you know the right people and have enough people to start a team. Here are some steps to do this:

1. Start A Social Media Group

You need to get the word out, and the best way to do that is through social media. Everyone is on it or at least knows someone on it, soit is a great way to get your word across. You can start a poll to see who will join, what nights they are free and where you can play.

This allows everyone’s input onthe league as well which is important for a team. Plus, people may feel more comfortable speaking online than they do in person.

2. Decide On The Kind Of League You Want To Host

Is it competitive where you play against other adult softball teams, or is it more casual where you just play again stone another? If you are in a competitive league, this can mean more travel, but it also means that you are not playing the same people all the time.

I personally like the idea of a competitive league since playing your team mates can get really old really quickly. If you think about it, if you play against one another then the same captains will pick the same people every time. Where is the fun in that after the second game?

3. Co-ed Or Single Sex

You need to decide this right away. I personally like co-ed for an adult softball league. Softball to me is a majority of women plus men who used to play baseball. It is a perfect combination of the two sexes.

Take a poll when you are starting to create the team and see what everyone wants. You can always have one men’s team and one women’s team and practice around the same time so couples can do it together.

4. Where Are You Going To Play?

You need to pick an area that is easy for everyone to get to if you are all from different towns. Around where I live many people congregate to a regional town that has all of the playing fields. Is this something that you have in your area?

Do you have your playing fields in your town and only allowing people from the town to play in it? These are some of the things you need to be thinking about.

5. Cost

If you are going to be using a playing field and having a uniform, it is going to cost a small fee to run this adult softball league. How much do you have to charge each member in order for it to break even? Think about equipment with bats, balls, and bases.

You also need gloves and hats for the players as well. Add up the expenses and divide things evenly amongst the team mates. Make it a seven as possible.

Conclusion

In the end softball, leagues for adults is a great idea. Adults like to go out and play sports just as much as their children do. Go out and create your own league today.
